It’s between the world wars, and a rare and beautiful statue of the Pharaoh Akhenaten, stolen from the Egyptian Museum, has attracted the dubious attention of smugglers and greedy collectors throughout Europe and the Middle East. As they murder and steal to possess the statue, the latest owner, a dealer in smuggled antiquities in London, hires Greek'/English adventurer Hugh Wilkinson to retrieve it for him in exchange for half the value for which the dealer can sell it.
